Izumi sushi

The katsu pork reminds me of the ones I enjoyed in Korea, with its breadcrumb batter and thick, succulent pork. While the Nigiri sushi had a bit too much rice for my liking, I'll definitely return for the katsu pork.Addit (revisited after 4months):We're dissatisfied with the pork donkatsu which didn't have its former glorious breadcrumb batter, and the wagyu beef in the omakase dish was tough and unappealing. Tables weren't adequately cleaned, so we took care of it ourselves since the staff appeared busy.

I've tried a lot of sushi places in Christchurch and in my opinion Izumi is the best Vegan option! Many places only use avo, carrot and cucumber in the filling, whereas Izumi have big chunks of Tofu AND all other veggies! I have been here approx 10 times and refuse to buy elsewhere. Absolutely incredible!!

I've visited this place approximately 10 times, and there are several reasons why I continue to come here:1. Sushi: Many Japanese restaurants are nearby, but quite a few skimp on the main ingredients and use too much rice to save costs. However, this place is generous with its ingredients, resulting in excellent taste and nutrition.2. Tonkatsu (Pork Cutlet): Tonkatsu is like the highlight of Japanese restaurants, and this place doesn't disappoint. They use generous portions of quality ingredients, and their signature menu item, the Cordon Bleu Katsu with mozzarella cheese, is a MUST-TRY! The homemade dressing in the salad is also delicious.3. Udon: I've tried udon at many places, but this place's udon noodles are top-notch. They remind me of Sanuki udon, a famous style from Kagawa Prefecture in Japan, with a delightful chewy texture that's hard to beat.4. Karaage (Fried Chicken): I'm a chicken enthusiast, and many places in CHCH make fried chicken with overly thick coatings just for appearance. This place, however, serves chicken with a balanced coating, less grease, and outstanding flavour. It seems they frequently change the oil, so you always get fresh chicken.5. Beverages: The drink prices here are reasonable, which is a relief compared to other establishments. I wonder if it's because there's a supermarket nearby. I hope they maintain this affordability.6. Service: If you're not looking for excessive fine dining service, the staff and the owner here are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The moment you step in, they greet you with a smile. I've never had a single complaint about their service during all my visits.I look forward to new menu items in the future while hoping that the existing dishes remain unchanged.

Excellent sushi. I had the Izumi special which had a nice mixture of everything and I couldn't find fault. The food was absolutely delicious, friendly service, clean and tidy area. I love that the tables are set up with good quality utensils (chopsticks, forks, spoons) so if you're eating there you don't need to use anything disposable. I can not recommend enough

A hidden gem worth seeking out! Everything was exceptional. The staff were very friendly. Fast service. Small shop but nice decor and a lovely atmosphere. Lots of tasty looking ready to go sushi on offer. The food we had was amazing. I had the prawn katsu. Prawn was fresh and delicious, fluffy rice, nice salad, and tasty miso. The cordon bleu katsu was sold out for the day (not surprising it's popular it looks phenomenal!) so we'll definitely be back to try it. Highly recommend.

I finally found an authentic Korean-style sushi place in Christchurch!! Best sushi & katsu in Christchurch i’ve had!!IZUMI’s Salmon poke Don is Incredibly fresh and delicious. my kids absolutely love the teriyaki chicken on rice!!very friendly staff and excellent service.

Absolutely fantastic sushi!!Some of the best in Christchurch, full of flavour and very reasonably priced. Staff are very genuine and lovely.I would highly recommend checking out this place, definitely one of my personal favourites.Great options, the rice balls are especially perfect for a quick lunch that certainly fills you up. Awesome atmosphere in the room, always very busy. Modern feel and great to sit in and eat.Hot meals are spectacular too!5 stars for sure!

This place is definitely to come and try. Easy to park and also go for grocery shopping all that once. Such a neat and cozy small sushi shop. The quality of food was impressed. Loved the sushi and Korean style chicken nice here.Friends recommended the Pork cutlet and Udon also amazing here. I will come back for that. Also staff or owner was very helpful and kind with lovely smiles. Appreciate that!
